When your GIPHY Account is flagged by our Moderation Team it means that we believe your use of the services are in violation of our Terms of Service. When your account is flagged, it re-enters a state of review, much like the original application process for Partner and Artist channels.
Below are some of the most common violations that accounts are flagged for. In order to maintain the status of your account type on GIPHY, please take action on your GIPHY channel and edit or delete the offending content or tags. Failure to take action on the offending content or tags may result in your account being downgraded and removed from the GIPHY search.
While we appreciate you being creative with your tagging, we ask that you delete excess or irrelevant tags on your GIFs. Please review our Community Guidelines for more information on tag spamming.
We’d recommend including no more than 5 to 10 tags on each GIF. Having more than that can actually hurt your search rankings. See GIPHY’s best practices for tagging for more pro-tips:
- Tag with your Brand or Artist name.
- Include the names of relevant talent or creators.
- Use catch phrases or tag lines, relevant emotions/actions/reactions depicted.
- Do not include the "#" symbol.
- Use spaces between words as you would when searching.
- Keep the tags as relevant to the content as possible.
Upgraded channels are reserved exclusively for content owners uploading their own content to GIPHY. Channels distributing content for third parties (including their clients) do not qualify at this time. Please review our Terms of Service and our Community Guidelines for more information on uploading third party content and crediting the community.
The best way to get your client's GIFs and Stickers distributed via GIPHY is to advise them to setup a channel of their own and upload the work there. From there, your client should get in touch with GIPHY about their account eligibility.
