iOS users of the GIPHY mobile app can now quickly make custom Camera Scenes and share links to their creations on any social platform! To get started, download and install the latest mobile app for iOS.
What is a Camera Scene you ask? Simple, Camera Scenes are an arrangement of stickers and GIFs that let you dress up inside the GIPHY Camera. Change your background, put on hats, or even cover your body to create far out looks that you can share with your friends. Here are a few examples:
So how do I make a Camera Scene? We’re so glad you asked!
- In the GIPHY mobile app for iOS, tap the Create link on the top right corner of the Home Screen.
- If this is your first time using the camera, you may need to give the app Camera Access. First time camera users will see a prompt to give the app permission and should click Continue and then Ok.
We use Depth Camera technology to allow GIFs to follow your face and other depth effects. We don’t store or share any face data and you can learn more here.
Once in the Camera you will see a set of Scene Creation Tools on the top right of the screen. Some of the tools you may see depending on your device and app version may include:
Background - Use Gifs to automatically replace the background behind a person. After selecting a GIF users can also tap/drag to position and pinch to create a tiled background.
Face Paint - This tool allows the user to place stickers directly on a face as if it was actually on their skin. Users can also drag and pinch to position stickers within the border of their face.
Stickers - If the user wants to decorate the screen with stickers this tool will allow them to place fixed stickers anywhere inside the screen on top of everything.
Bodysuit - Using this tool, users can cover their body with a GIF. This can be handy for creating body suits or silhouettes of people.
Pin to Face - This tool allows users to “pin” stickers around their head so it follows them in 3D space. Users can also push or pull the stickers to adjust the depth position either in front of behind their head using the slide on the right.
Note - All stickers and GIF effects can be deleted using a tap and hold gesture to reveal an options menu. The options menu also allows users to duplicate and rearrange stickers to the back or in front of previously placed stickers.
Once you are happy with your custom filter use the Share this Scene button at the top of the camera to post a link to your creation. Unfortunately filters made using the Face Paint, Bodysuit and Face Follow stickers will not currently work on Android devices. However, filters made with background and regular stickers will.
